Hive opening

Did not install mouse guard as I need to feed the hive. Will feed 1.5-1 sugar mixture this week
August Hive Inspection
Sunday, August 26th, 2012- No honey in upper supers
- removed upper supers and queen excluder
- installed empty top box with tray of apiguard
- treated with fumagellin 1tsp per quart 1:1 syrup (7 quarts total) over two weeks
- 1 1/2 to 2 x number of bees

Saturday, July 21st, 2012Checked on the hive
- Top Honey Super – existing comb, no honey, ~50 bees
- 2nd from Top Honey Super – no comb, ~25 bees
- Top Hive Body – more brood than last observation, full body of bees
- Bottom Hive Body – mostly full frames of honey, 1/2 full of bees
- Light activity at hive entrance, 2 hive beetles on upper cover
Estimated hive population ~40,000
January Consolidation
Wednesday, February 15th, 2012Hive 2 is no more, queen gone small bunch of dead bees. Removed 10 frames of honey and installed on hive 1.
